At present, most central processing units (CPU) operate at frequencies in the gigahertz range (1GHz = 1 billion cycles per second), making PCs and mobile equipment ever more powerful. This can be problematic, for as power increases so does the amount of noise generated between the power supply lines and the electronic circuits; such high-frequency noise has detrimental effects on operations. This situation is exacerbated by the ever-growing market demand for thin, lightweight equipment with lots of power and advanced functions. These concerns require appropriate solutions, especially now that consumers have come to expect convenience and ease-of-use from their digital devices.
NEC TOKIN solves noise problems in the age of the gigahertz by applying the advantages of our exclusive material development technologies. For instance, our innovative single-unit Proadlizer uses a conductive polymer, realizing the absorption of both noise and load regulations in power supplies. Just a few of these decoupling capacitors could take the place of a combination of several kinds of conventional capacitors, resulting in smaller equipment.
Another example is our Flex Suppressor, a sheet-type device that suppresses noise simply by being pasted over the source of the noise. NEC TOKIN has succeeded in the practical implementation of its high-efficiency Flex Suppressor, achieving noise reduction equivalent to that of conventional products — only at one-fifth their thickness.
We also have a novel three-step solution for noise reduction. First, capacitors and our Proadlizer absorb conduction noise. Next, different inductors cut conduction noise. In the final step, our Flex Suppressor and Film Impedor absorb radiation noise.
Thanks to exclusive technologies that utilize magnetic materials, our inductors perform at levels twice as high as their conventional counterparts, facilitating great strides in making devices smaller and more powerful, as the market demands. To stabilize power supplies to modern CPUs, NEC TOKIN combines tantalum capacitors and choke coils, providing optimal solutions for virtually any application.

Tantalum capacitors
The tantalum capacitors in our varied lineup supply a stable source of electricity in electronic equipment such as mobile phones and personal computers. Our NeoCapacitor®, the first commercialized capacitor to employ a conductive polymer, has excellent noise-absorbing characteristics, making it an indispensable component in broadband applications.
  Proadlizer®
This decoupling device supports frequencies ranging from 100 kilohertz (kHz) to today’s GHz requirements. It achieves the lowest equivalent series inductance (ESL) of any capacitor and is particularly effective at absorbing noise and stabilizing power voltage in high-performance CPUs.
  Flex Suppressor® / Film Impedor®
These sheet-type noise suppressors are just 25µm to 1mm thick and effectively suppress high-frequency noise generated by electronic equipment. They are commonly used in mobile phones, digital cameras and notebook computers.
  SMD choke coils
Powerful and compact, our high-performance choke coils take advantage of exclusive material technologies using micro-metal particles and ferrite cores. They are used in today’s increasingly thinner and smaller notebook PCs.
  Noise Tracer
A radio frequency (RF) magnetic field sensor, Noise Tracer quickly and conveniently measures magnetic field intensity. This sensor makes it easy to confirm the level of high-frequency magnetic fields generated by printing circuit boards and electronic devices, making it ideal for Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) designing and countermeasure reviews.
