To provide the products and solutions to drive markets and society, NEC TOKIN developed its Socio-In Solutions, characterized by new products such as piezoelectric devices, which have garnered worldwide attention for their ability to control the finely tuned operations of small electronics while minimizing power consumption. As a result of our “material-based device creation”— in which we integrate production with material development — we have succeeded in building high-quality piezoelectric ceramics that we use in compact, high-performance consumer products, including digital cameras and mobile phones.
Our magnetic, piezoelectric and optical technologies have also been applied in cutting-edge products, especially sensors. For example, NEC TOKIN’s 3D motion sensors enable precise position-angle detection, and are expected to find applications not only in position-fixing services that utilize information terminals but also robotics.
Taking our business far beyond the realm of information communication, NEC TOKIN is working hard to improve the medical field, the environment and human welfare. Our piezoelectric acoustic devices boast high-quality, easy-to-hear sound reproduction suitable across a wide range of consumer products, and our superelastic alloys are ideal for use in stents and catheters. Ceramic Gyros™ / 3D motion sensors
Our Ceramic Gyro is an affordable ultra-small, high-performance angular-rate sensor used in camera shake compensators in video cameras and digital cameras. Our 3-D motion sensor is used for real-time detection of three-dimensional position angles. |

These actuators employ piezoelectric ceramics that convert electric energy to mechanical energy. Their application is expanding in the fields of consumer electronics, including digital cameras and mobile phones, as well as in industrial applications such as semiconductor manufacturing equipment. |

Piezoelectric acoustic devices
Using the characteristics of piezoelectricity, these devices convert electric signals to acoustic vibrations. They are used in bone-conductive speakers, in which vibrations sent through the skull are transferred directly to the sound-gathering organs inside the ear. They are also used in mobile phones’ flat panel speakers. |
